Another Ponzi scheme story is emerging and it's not good. Allegedly, this Long Island, NY man was running one and then he killed his wife, 2 daughters, and himself in a Baltimore hotel the other day. Money does crazy things to people. A lot of peoples' response to this is, "why doesn't he just whack himself and leave the innocent family alone"? Now I'm no psychologist, but I think these people get so sick that they think their families will be misreable once the "ponzi cat is out of the bag" and kind of make the decision that the whole family would be better off dead as well. A real shame.
The one good thing that might come out of all this is the message we like to spread around to people. This message will certainly be featured on an upcoming episode of "Monkey Business" on www.podcastgo.com which premieres this Monday, April 27. The message is simply: if someone can't explain to you in simple English in about 2 minutes how they are going to make money for themselves, or for you as an investor, then they are LYINNNNNNNNNNNN. I think a lot more people these days are asking questions to figure out if "investment managers" are running a Ponzi scheme. Like my grandmother used to say, "If you've got nothing to hide, you have nothing to worry about." Amen to that.
If you want to try and get into the mind of one of these wanna be fraudsters, there's a good article on Espn.com written by Mike Fish called "Bed of Nails". Its all about Lenny Dykstra the former Phillie and Met who now is attempting to run money. You read this article. You give this guy money. You assclown. Remember, 2 minutes in plain English explanations. Otherwise, respectfully (or disrespectfully) decline the invitation to invest.

Not making a comment about this post but just wanted to voice my feelings about this whole cluster fuck that is getting worse by the day. The news that Ken Lewis was mafia strong-armed by Bernanke and Paulson to buy ML is a FUCKING JOKE. Now Paulson is saying that he was directed by Bernanke (which he denies). What kind of confidence does that give any of us that (some might argue) two of the most powerful men are contradicting each other. In my opinion this leads back to those rats at GS. What a coincidence that two former GS boys, Thain and Paulson, were key players. To quote you guys “the sand is getting kicked in our face”…AGAIN. This is a universal embarrassment. We're all cooked !!!! Desert Party for the Derby??
