Ahhh Senators Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) and Byron Dorgan (D-South Dakota) have stated that neither are going to seek re-election in 2010. These were pretty powerful dudes in the Senate. We've talked a lot about Dodd in these pages over the last few years. Rarely, anything good. The one I liked the most was when Dodd and Kent Conrad (D-North Dakota) received preferential treatment in the "friends of Angelo" program. For those who don't remember, that was the program where the "friends" received nice discounts on mortgage loans from Countrywide Home Loans which was run by the always tan Angelo Mazillo. Of course, both gents denied having any knowledge of getting preferred status. O.J. denied what he did too.
This all kind of sets a little stage for what will be an interesting 2010 election year. The Democrats are talking about trying to keep their 60 seat majority in the Senate. Um, I got the under. And not just because of these 2 guys departing either. People vote with their pocketbooks. Not gay marriage, not war, not who gives the best speeches. How's your pocketbook? Right. Senators Dodd and Dorgan enjoy your $1mm+ a year private sector jobs. Assclowns.

First off, Rich and Fletch I think you summarize what most have been thinking just maybe not as clear as the 2 of you have put it.
Next, RPB, this is the crux of the situation. You know any doctors? I mean personally. Ask them what they had to do to get where they are. I had soooo many shekles in the bank before the guys I went to college with who became doctors even got out of residency. Was that fair? Um nope. I was no dimwit but these guys were exceptionally bright. And worked their asses off. For nothing in the wallet. As a matter of fact, a lot of them had a ton of debt. This whole "Main Street", and this current administration's, view that doctors are in it for the money have their heads up their asses. Now whats going to happen? These long time doctors are going to quit. And the kids who are exceptionally bright are going to pass on becoming doctors. Why? Because we are going to have socialized medicine.
But let me not stop there. We are going to have socialized everything soon. And when the "man" decides he doesnt want to own the plant that employs a ton of people, then what? Real people in this country I think get it, but there are still some that have this distorted view of things. You keep attacking the rich, then the rich guys figures out REAL quick how to get "unrich". Then where are you left?
This President needs to figure out if he wants to win again as a President. If not, he can keep doing what he's doing and he'll end up with 1 term. Or he can use that Harvard Graduate Degree and realize, "hey its kind of cool being the President and Nancy Pelosi, the UAW, George Soros, CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, and the mob don't own me." Otherwise he goes down in flames, and sets his party back 30 years. Sorry I gave up the secrets for him to keep power but if he doesn't come around we'll be speaking Arabic and Chinese soon. Those of us who are still alive.

How can we expect anything but diminished care for everyone from this health care if demand for health care services increases massively while the supply of services remains constant? It is really that simple. In fact, there will likely be less supply of health care services as doctors, nurses, PA, NPs, etc will be paid less.
Will we need to subsidize medical school as well? Yes. Will this lead to increases in the costs of education just like more lending has everywhere else? Yes. Will medical schools need to accept increasing less qualified applicants? Yes. Will we need to buy massive amounts of new medical equipment and build many new hospitals to support this influx? Yes. Will the health care companies benefit vastly from this bill? Yes.
Will this bill save anyone money?
No no no!
This is not a health care reform bill, its a health care redistribution plan coupled with a wealth redistribution plan (more money to health care/pharmaceutical companies).
When will people learn that the reason most things are expensive is because they are scarce?!?

dodd did irreparable harm for 30yrs while the people of ct slept. 1 small example being the monstrosity health bill (which dodd today called the most important vote he cast in all of his "career" on 12/24/09): my hlth insurance premium just went up +13% 1/1/10 over last yr. dodd has been dumped. today is a grand day for residents of the state.
