Editor's Note--Here it is. Another end to an NFL season. And regardless as to what happens on Sunday, another VERY successful NFL season for Big D and all his merry men, women, and monkeys. Ok. Ok. He went 1-2, 2 weeks ago. But he went back to that magical drawing board. He also got a little nostalgic on me. As Hyman Roth once said, "Many of our friends are gone. Some natural. Some not." Big D felt that this week. He has assured me that despite having a heavy heart, he is very professional, and has done the proper studying. You know what I said to him? "Big D, you don't have to apologize to me.You just do your thing." And that thing, my friends, is picking consistent winners. Well, Richie, this week bought back many memories. My good pals Don Cornelius and Angelo Dundee passing away. 2 big icons of the past. Cultural icons. Ironically, both known to have loved their football as well as being experts in their other fields. Gonna miss em. Now speaking of football, other fields, and experts......
All eyes are focused on the Big Game. Even the bookmakers eyes. Big D made this line a Pick em at the finish of the Giants vs SF game. When it posted New England -3.5, we were a little perplexed. But perplexed didn't mean run to the windows, like many "alleged" wiseguys did, and bet the G-men. We've been to this rodeo before. We did enjoy the total that was posted. 55. You know what it was the last time these 2 squared off in the Super Bowl? 55. You know what the actual final total was? 31. Check.
But whenever Big D gets that feeling that there's something fishy going on with a pointspread in a game of this magnitude, he stays a bit away. But money is money. And you know what else is going on that day? 2 NBA games! Well, we start it off with some rugged defense. How about a nice UNDER in the Memphis vs Boston game AND the UNDER in the Miami vs Toronto matchup. So by football kickoff, you will have some REAL walkin around money already!! Do I need to remind you of Big D's basketball picking prowess on Super Bowl Sundays in the past? No, I do not.
Since we are in the defensive mood and mode, let's just say that total is quite high in el Bowl de Super. And we have been and WILL BE taking the UNDER. Hows that for a defensive day?!? And now for the play that's a real kick in the pants. Look to your left. Who does the person like? Look to your right. Who does the person like? Probably 50-50 if you are standing outside of NY or New England right? Well, now ask them, "Is it going to be a good game?" About 90% of them say some form of the word, "yes", right?
Well that's why we are playing the special prop bet of NY GIANTS -7.5 points and getting 4-1 odds. That's right. The GIANTS are going to win by more than 8! Now for all you sizzle chests who love New England and think Big D is off his rocker (not likely, my friends)? How about NEW ENGLAND -14.5 and getting 5-1 odds? Hmmmmm? Yep NEW ENGLAND in a blowout baby. How you like me now?
Pretty funny no? Think about it. You just cheer for one team to score a lot and one team to score very little. Pass the lobster dip and chips and the finest champagne baby!!
To recap: NBA early Sunday: UNDER Memphis/Boston, UNDER Miami/Toronto. Super Bowl: UNDER 54.5 NY/New England. NY GIANTS -7.5 @ 4-1. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS -14.5 @ 5-1. Yes bet 'em both and you will at LEAST triple your money. Good luck, god bless, go defense, and blowouts.
