Richie, no, the weekend in the college hasn't turned out like we planned, the things that pass for knowledge we don't understand (thank you Donald Fagen!). However, we will be making quick, early work of the college football this week. One Friday night game. 2 Saturday noon eastern time games. Quick, early work, see?
UNLV is not going to have anyone mistake them for last year's Alabama team, but hey, they seem to play hard at home. Not even sure Washington State is going to score more than 8 in this one. UNLV a sturdy 67% play as a home dog. Under the lights, national TV, Sam Boyd Stadium (Sam, the owner of the famous Sam's Town Casino off the strip in Las Vegas, of course)?!? RUNNIN' REBELS of LAS VEGAS indeed! We'll take the 8.5 please.
WAKE FOREST seems to always have Florida State's number. Ask Florida State last year when they lost outright to the DEACONS at WAKE laying 10. (A Big D winner). Well, somebody (namely Mr. Bookmaker), thinks Florida State is going to have anger and revenge on their minds. Why else would they be laying 28 points? 28 points?!?! A strong, veteran defense for WAKE? A mean DEMON DEACON coach who won't let them quit?!. Take the points in Tallahasee, Lassie.
Finally, LOUISIANA-MONROE was the one pick we wish we would've released last week (it was THIS close, trust us). Not that why ever dreamed that they would beat Arkansas but they would be close. Now they get the overhyped Auburn team who isn't much since Cam Newton and the national title left in 2010. LA-MONROE again might not win, but 16.5 points seem to quite generous, pal. Take again.
